Get it together

Ok so I am having a real hard time getting it together
I mean honestly. I am in a rut, a ditch a big hole...whatever.
I don't do any of the following consistently:
Exercise
Read the bible
Pray
Coupon
Clean the house
Grocery shop
Go to bed at a certain time
Maintain friendships well
Laundry

Don't get me wrong I don't need am intervention or I don't need to be
on an episode of hoarders!

It's just like I can't keep-up. Working all week, coming home and
switching into mommy mode on top of still nursing is a lot. I've got
an awesome husband that supports me in so many ways and is keeping
Walker, finishing seminary and trying to keep me sane.

I totally understand that stay at home mom has a FULL time job but do
any of y'all work outside the home and have kid(s)? Do you have a
system? A schedule? Have it somewhat together? Just looking for some
insight here. I feel like I'm so far behind I don't even know where to
begin to catch-up and "get it together".

Thank the Lord for Fridays...when I get to start the weekend with my
boys!

  1. I work part-time and it is still hard to stay on top of everything. You might find that it will get easier in a few months - I know things got easier for me around the one year mark. But don't beat yourself up over it - have some priorities but otherwise enjoy life!

    Hats off for still nursing!

  4. Ok - first of all.....you can't do it all and never will you ever accomplish that. It has taken me 10 years of being a work-outside the home full time mom to realize that. What I finally had to come to was this: as long as I love my God (first and foremost), love my husband and love my children, then that is enough. The house doesn't get cleaned everyweek. And I go to bed with dirty dishes in the sink sometimes cause I am just too darn tired at the end of the day. The laundry doesn't always make it to it's home after it's clean - and that's ok....the kids know it's in the laundry room and they can come get it themselves. And meals that require heating up and serving are ok. Take it from a mom who thought she had to do it all AND never tell anyone no - because oh my goodness - they might think less of me. Now, I worry about the happiness and love and nurturing I give my family. All the other stuff - it's just whipped cream on top of the ice cream! Michelle - hang in there....you will soon find your groove and you will have it "all together". You have to know that "all together" is not the same for each of us working moms. (I went through about 3 years where I beat myself up over being a working mom - because there is a great debate between working outside the home mom and stay at home mom.) Both sides are right.....it's just what is best for you and your family. Hang in there and if you ever need someone to talk to PLEASE CALL ME - I have struggled so with what you are struggling with right now. I don't have the answers but will be more than happy to listen! You are loved!

  6. Hey Michele,
you are doing an awesome job and just hang in there. you'll have to give up on having a super clean house. it's hard to let things slide when you are not used to doing that, but welcome to parenthood - endless learning :) press on!

  7. I pay a housekeeper to keep my house clean (that saves me a TON of time). And I get up 1 1/2 hours early everyday so I have time to get ready and do a quiet time.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You are doing a great job. You are an awesome mommy and I'm learning from you all the time! Love you friend!
