Though I'm not a "reader"...

So honestly - I wouldn't call myself a reader. But after looking through some other blogs, taking recommendations and getting an encyclopedia of information from Mary - I have started collecting pregnancy books - so that I can hopefully educate myself on what's in store!

So far I have: Belly Laughs, Baby Wise, The Vaccine Book, Dr. Denmark Said It, What to Expect, The Birth Partner, a Day By Day Pregnancy Journal, The Publix Pregnancy to 5 year Book (FREE!), The Complete Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth and one more by Ina May Gaskins...

I bought most of these through ebay and amazon using paypal money that I made from selling other stuff! I just decided that if I read as much as possible then we will be able to filter through all the advice, opinions, and other things we hear - and decide what's the best fit for our family! It will be a miracle if I make it through these books - but we shall see!

Other exciting news - Aaron comes home tonight from a 5-day trip to San Antonio, TX. I am SOOO excited to see him - we sure have been lonely this week without him!

  1. Michele, I have all those same books, and they are great! I will say that some stuff worked and some didn't for me. We are following the alternative vaccine schedule by Dr. Sears (The Vaccine Book), and it seems to be going well. I tried to do Dr. Denmark, and I am doing a lot of the stuff (sleeping on tummy), but the four-hour schedule was a bit for Easton. We are just now moving to a four-hour schedule, but he's three months. I am following Babywise, and it truly has been my saving grace. I know some people don't like it, but I LOVE it. I can email you the exact schedule I'm following. It breaks down the book a little bit more. Anyway, good luck with the reads. You'll find yourself flying through them. Please let me know if you have any questions, or you just want to chat about the books. I'd love to be your book buddy! :)

I'm praying for that little baby. When do you find out the sex???

  4. Hey Michele! We loved Dr. Denmark and did most of her stuff. We also used a lot of babywise principles. if you want more info on dr d, check out www.friendsofdenmark.wordpress.com. can't wait to hear more what you decide on!

Be careful with the Denmark book. A lot of the advice is outdated and is contrary to what the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends. Dr. Denmark went to medical school in the 1920s, and there has been lots of new research/findings since then.

Have you seen Dr. Sears "The Baby Book"? It is really great.
